I'm registered to take mandarin in the summer. I'm stoked. It's the most spoken language on earth (sauf l'anglais je crois) but I have a confession: I love Japanese. Nope, I don't speak it, but the culture of the Japanese is so fascinating. I don't know if it's because they had a lovely period of seclusion in which to let their beautiful culture fester (i ought to consider a similar personal experiement of that kind) or something else, but . . .

Not as many people speak it, surely, but it's something I'm thinking about.
