I always thought it would feel this way . . .

{listening away to this guy}
this may be premature, but I am a little too excited to care. No english major for me, nor neuroscience, which slightly pains my heart, but no matter. I am feeling like a little birdie nestling into a collection of branches and string that will soon become her home. And that smattering of bits of tree and debris is made of courses about . . . I'll just say - anthropology. I may crash and burn with disappointment, but I don't care! It feels lovely to at least pretend to belong somewhere, so I'm going to stick with it and be excited. Really excited at the moment.

It's feeling like a fit, like I'm nestling into a niche, one that I can be excited about, and proud to tell my friends, and my mother's friends about. It's a little bit off the beaten track, but still legit (never mind my colloquialism, but it seems to fit.) I feel as if my dreams have sprouted wings like never before. Up until this point I had shoved my future into a corner, and let it scheme and play and run on a treadmill without actually going anywhere, now, the sky's the limit!

Last night Rachel and I were chatting, and we were discussing how imperative it is that I find my way to NYC eventually, and guess what - there are loads of internships in New York for Anthropology majors. I can travel the world doing a variety of things. I can . . . I can have a response for people who ask what I'm studying, and what a relief that will be.

"Well Joe, I'm an Anthropology major with a sociocultural emphasis and a minor in _________. Thanks for askin'. I know it's a mouthful, but now that I've got something to say, I'm going to just let you have an earful to make up for all that time where my response fell flat once my mouth opened. So there."

That's right. I will wait until I'm officially declared before I actually respond, and I may not declare until next Spring, but I don't particularly care. And by the way, I was slightly concerned that Annie, and I had the same major, but as cute as the movie was, I was a little disconcerted that that was the case. But no worries, she was an anthro (isn't the abbreviation precious) minor, with a business major, psht. Okay, I think I've let off a little helium, but hooray.

Did I mention . . .

Social Work is not actually a major any longer at Brigham Young University in Provo. Shame. I was really warming up to the idea. So, Rachel is no longer going along with that route . . . for, em, obvious reasons. Anyway, Hilary and I made up a list of other possibilities. We got it down to the top of the top, around 25 options left. Pretty good eh.

I've decided that I need to document the many changes of mind I have. It has changed a lot thus far, but I figure, hey, it's going to change a lot from here on out as well, so now's as good a time as any to get started.

So, currently, dun dun dun daaaaahhhhh:

How does an Anthropology and Sociocultural Double Major sound eh? Well, be happy with it for now, because who knows, I could be digging up bones with the rest of em. What am I saying? This is ridiculous. Anyway. Anna K is waiting. Bonne nuit!

Right Now

What a show. After seeing His Girl Friday, I've decided to become a reporter, preferably from the 1930's.

And by the way, I am in love with Cary Grant. Oh la la, absolutely smitten. His smoking good looks and rapid wit capture my heart like nothing else. He is class and charm, and  . . . I love him.
