Here's today

I'm in a bit of a frenzy. Anna K. has me going absolutely crazy. I'm in love, with everyone - leo especially. Oh boy, so so so worth it. Leo and J.K.R. are in competition for page numbers, but I'm afraid Harry simply can't hold a candle. The way good literature captures your heart and you beg that all will work out amazes me; I am absolutely at the mercy of the words on the page, and I confess i love it - full surrender on my end.

Anyway, enough of that. I have the feeling that I could have gone on for hours on that subject, but for now, we'll just leave her be. I had an interview today for a very exciting job: asst. manager at Cafe Zupas. Yeah, I know what you're thinking, I have ZERO experience, but "Brooke" didn't seem to care. I like interviews. They give me a bit of a rush that I don't otherwise enjoy in my normal life. And they give me the chance to test out my abilities to  s t r e t c h  the truth a bit. Fun fun.

Also, I tried to talk to my little photo kiosk lover - oh my heart be still. I know I haven't mentioned him before, but he makes work so much more enjoyable, or at least entertaining. We've shared as many words as you could fit on two hands, all of which were highly, I repeat highly awkward. But I don't care. I tried to ask how he was, and he looked as if I'd shot him with a stunner. What can I say, other than that I am . . . never mind, this is leading to a bad joke, and undue personal praise. Forget it.

And then I read, most of the day, by myself, through the rain and thunder (all this may account for the babbling at present, but it lends a very raw, unedited feel i believe.) But I'm grateful I have time to read, and that it's something worthwhile. Let me tell you a little something. If you are a middle-aged, respectable looking lds woman, please, PLEASE do NOT come to the bookstore at 9:00 in the morning and ask for a book with the following description, courtesy of deseret book:
"Savannah McLaughlin has every reason to be afraid of the obsessed man behind the surgical mask. The injuries she has suffered while jumping from a moving car are nothing compared to the anguish she will have to endure at the hands of Mario Ferrante. She knows she must escape from the man who has a seemingly endless vendetta against Savannah and Major Christopher Dane. What she doesn’t know is that Major Dane—who has always avoided commitment—has finally declared his feelings for her in a dramatic way by deliberately ransoming himself for her freedom.

Now it’s up to Savannah and Dane’s team of expert misfits to rescue Dane. But success will require more than brute force. So the team designs an elaborate plan to bring Ferrante to justice and free Dane. But will the recruitment of an unlikely ally doom the most important mission of Savannah’s life? Will a shocking secret keep Savannah from trusting the man she loves?

Full of twists and turns, action and romantic tension, Code of Honor will keep you guessing and cheering for Betsy Brannon Green’s unlikely heroine."

Ladies, ladies. You have better things to spend your time with than mormon romance-suspense-mystery novels. (i'm gagging here, really - it's painful.) And the worst of it is, I'm just going to say it, no, I'll say that it would be difficult to get through Anna K. before and after being exposed to books like those. Most times I read the back and have to exert extreme effort to maintain a casual, not-at-all-in-absolute-disgust kind of look. I'm sorry for being harsh, but why? Currently reading one of the greatest books ever written has made me a bit of book snob hasn't it? and with very little justification. No matter, moving on.

I'm going to visit one of my favorite ladies tomorrow. Hopefully I will have loads to report tomorrow, if not, sorry.

Well, I've got to go to my lovely job, for which I am truly truly grateful at good ol' 7:45 tomorrow. Real quick and quite out of the blue (though frankly, what on this post isn't?) here's what I ate today, for the sake of accountability.

grape nuts + skim

2 rye crackers + natural PB + feta + apple slices (turned out really great actually)

handful of kidney beans + cauliflower + basil pesto (also quite good)

lemon muffin (my last one, heated to perfection)

a little more grape nuts + skim + some chocolate chips (i'm afraid these may be a recurring theme.)

fiber 1 bar

1 1/2 bananas + chocolate chips

romaine + carrot shavings + chicken + cilantro + evoo + balsamic vinegar + some grape nuts (surprising, good)

plain non-fat yogurt + grapes + chocolate chips (semisweet mind)

oatmeal

So, now that I've pretty much exposed the most vulnerable side of myself, I can go on with life quite contentedly. Bonne nuit, jusqu'à demain!
