Jazz at two

I have been listening to the most exquisite Jazz music lately. Oh, I am smitten. The class and elegance and passion and appeal of the singers of "sultry ladies of jazz album" have caught my heart, and I am absolutely held by them . . . I can't listen to anything else. But as I listen to these songs perpetually on repeat, I'm coming to realize that I relate so much more to the sentiments presented by the lyrics of these songs from a different era than I ever have to modern music.

Phrases from My Funny Valentine, and In the Wee Small Hours, and Detour Ahead make me want to shout out in agreement. What is it about this music that makes me feel simultaneously ever-powerful and calm? What has happened in the past almost century to transform music.

These ladies are oh-so-sultry, and "I'm lovin' the spin I'm in!"
