Interstitial v. Appositional

Bones grow in different ways after birth. Primarily in the long bones, there is interstitial and appositional growth. Interstitial is growth on an inner growth in length. Cells line up and build up that way. Conversely, appositional growth is peripheral. It is a growth in diameter. Independent of interstitial growth, it expands on the outside and builds upon itself.

I am appositional growth. I figure I am on the peripheral, gradually building on myself and though it's not as obvious or seemingly productive as growing longer, my circumference grows, and I can expand more effectively. Conversely, I believe that most others are interstitial. Which is fine.

This is a bit of a stretched metaphor, but while reviewing this subject of anatomy, I couldn't help but notice some personal correlations.
