Elis Regina
I've watched this nearly one hundred times. Ever since it was sent to me I've listened to it over and over and over. It's beautiful, and intoxicating . . . and in Portuguese.
My recently acquired obsession with the language has been powerful; books from the library, music of Elis Regina, Joao Gilberto, Seu George, "Bom Dia" power drink at Smith's, Hollow City film etc etc. I feel I can officially say that it is indeed the most beautiful language on the planet. And 'tis ranked number seven as far as most speakers in the world (mandarin is number one, english at three after spanish.) Just listen to this, I feel so overflowing with gratitude for this, that I am going to Brazil - not only to hear more music like this, and see the Brazilian coast, but to tell people about Jesus Christ, and the church that he restored to the earth for each of them.
I've tried singing along and . . . fortunately I've got time before I actually need to speak to native Brazilians.
